wot if? an epic sydney roadtrip.
those 3 girls up there are the best people to get lost/left behind in a city by the bus with. ever. i am blogging about this because i want to forever remember the trip. this is the story of our epic roadtrip. :)
day 1: 14th april
casey, athena and i met at the foyer at 5. unsurprisingly, lav was late. waited around, talked and finally got into the car and started driving off to sydney. epic dancing in the dark to hip hop music turned up so loud, we couldn’t even hear each other speak. gossip, swooning and anticipation. finally got to lav’s aunt’s house at about 10 (BEAUTIFUL by the way) and was treated to an amazing indian dinner. curry, rice, prawns, crackers, juice YUM TO THE TUMMMMM. :)
day 2: 15th april (SUPAFEST SAY WHAAAAT)
woke up, showered, breakfast. fried noodles yeeeeeeeee! :D flitted around, getting ready and getting excited. shower, hair, makeup, with little bits of dancing here and there. decided to go down to the mall for a bit just to shop around. bought a fedora (parramatta is pretty cool), walked around a little more got a bag of doritos to help us through the festival then went back and deposited our bags back again at the house. then supafest, HERE WE COMEEEE!
it was epic. seeing all these celebrities that i’ve heard on my itunes millions of times was completely surreal. it really legitimized their talent AND their existence. ice cube was funny, kelly rowland is SO gorgeous and hot (and daaaaamn her dancers were smoking, i swear one of them stared straight at case and i and was doing the sexiest dance moves woooooooo), trey songz was super cute (hopeless romantic to the max), t-pain was a surprisingly good entertainer/performer/singer, and daaaamn chris brown was just awesome. he really is a good performer. i was happy that my fan-ity was not wasted because all of them actually had legit talent, and they could sing/dance/perform well (Y) didn’t waste my money yeeaah!
crazy catfights broke out. most of the people in the front were high schoolers who thought they were hot shit (yeah, no not at all), but whatevs. everyone just needed to calm their tits, for real, because seriously, if less pushing and shoving happened, we would all have been able to see the artistes better (Y)
anyhoos, after 5 hours straight of standing with no food, and only random cups of water here and there, the concert finally ended and our heads were spinning and our stomachs were growling due to the lack of food and water we had the entire day. bought a sprite from the vending machine, and shared it out amongst us 4. sprite never tasted so damn good. it was so cold, sweet and fizzy. climbed seven flights of stairs to the car and realized there was a loooooong queue to get out because of supafest AND easter show since both were occurring simultaneously at the park. so chilled in the car for a bit. when we wound down the windows to let the air in, there were these 4 big, bald guys in the car beside us who had their windows down as well. one of them went out to check something at the front of the car, then said something to me. something i didn’t hear three times, and he had to repeat. which he did. apparently he said “sorry, i don’t give my number out on the first date.” i was like WHAAAAT ARE YOU SAYING! CAN’T HEAR YOU. the girls finally told me what he said i was like what the crap ewwww wind up the window! so we realized we had to go pay the parking ticket downstairs. got the lift, went down, went to the ticketing place. case and i saw a wig on the floor, HAHAHA case’s reaction freaking hilarioussss (“is that somebody’s WEAVE?! what the hell?!”) and some random guy just came picked it up, and handed it to his friend, cool as a cucumber. both of us were like what the actual shit LOL
so we finally get back to the car and drive home. failed at ordering dominoes cos we were 10 minutes too late into their closing time. lav’s very very sweet aunt susie made us parathas and we had it with leftover curry and rice. only after eating about 2 parathas, rice and 3 helpings of curry did i finally start to feel normal again. went upstairs, talked a bit, and tried to get lav and casey to guess the song i was thinking in my head, along with dance moves as well. i got the biggest wtf looks ever because they didn’t know what the hell song i was talking about but after much laughing and dancing, we finally got it. BEST. so went to sleep, lovely lovely sleep.
day 3: a series of unfortunate epic fails.
woke up around 12, had some breakfast, presented aunt susie with some ferreros then made our way down to sydney cbd about 3. when we were supposed to leave at 1.45. HAHA FAIL to the max. so drove down to cbe, did some shopping (very little but did buy a lovely scarf from sportsgirl) and then had dinner at chat thai. super fun, talking about random stuff, like how athletic animals have more tender meat than non-athletic animals (i swear, i’m onto something here). finally finished dinner around 6.45 and came out of the mall. we were laughing our ass off at my dancing and guessing the song thing that happened last night and we were just laughing our way down the street. then lav suddenly realized, her phone wasn’t on her.
that’s when it allllll started.
we ran back to the mall, only to find it had closed down. like legit, the metaal meshes were down at the entrances and we had to go through emergency fire exit doors to get into the mall. ran up to the top level (of course, the restaurant we ate at HAD to be at the top level) and couldn’t find lav’s phone. tried to get into the cubicle she was in last but there was some woman doing a MASSIVE number two that the whole bathroom could smell (i know, EW WTF). so we ran back down, phoneless, found athena and casey waiting for us and by that time it was already 7.30 pm. our bus was at 8. we had to run down i don’t know how many blocks but it was many blocks down george and pitt street to get to our car. which was, of course, parked on the far end of the rocks. holy freaking crap.
so picture this. 4 girls running crazily down the street, one in heels CLACKETY CLACK, and all of us freaking that we were going to miss the bus. we got to the car at 7.45 pm, and lav entered the directions to central station into her GPS. her secondhand GPS mind you, that she got for dirt cheap. and lo behold, the GPS gave horribly wrong directions, and kept bringing us around in circles (LEFT LEFT LEFT), even though central was only 2 km away. 2 KILOMETERES. we tried to get google maps on athenas phone, but wec couldn’t get it on time (“I DON’T KNOW HOW TO WORK THIS THING”!) when we FINALLY got the station, just as we pulled into the station, the bus left. JUST as we came, it went. can you believe it?!
so we sat there for a bit, and decided to try to go to the airport, because sometimes, buses go to the airport to pick people up. so we drove for 20 mins to the airport, all the way laughing about what had just happened, and we were supposed to go into the international terminal. at the turning, for some bizarre reason that was yet to be known, lav turned into the domestic terminal. we sat there, saw the sign for the international terminal go past us and we were like, “lav, did we just…” “yeah…shittttt…” OMGGGG. at this point we were all on some kind of high and we kept laughing and laughing and laughing. so we had to keep moving to get to the terminal and we followed cars that went into a carpark. the attendant told us greyhounds pick up was actually further down and we had to get out of the carpark to get to it. so we went through the carpark (“10 MINUTES FREE GUYS, 10 MINUTES FREE!”) and came out the other side. there was NO way for us to get to the pick up. at this point, we gave up and realized we’ll just have to go back to cbe and stay the night and get a bus in the morning. so lav goes straight down and we come to this dodgy alleyway which was dark, and parked on a tow away zone. i swear i thought some man with a gun was going to come and shoot us. it was called the qantas boarding bus area or something like that, but was definitely one of the more weird and deeper areas of the airport. it was creepy because 2 trucks came and parked behind us. nothing happened, but they just parked there, and people came in and out. weeeeird. so by this time, we just parked there and tried figuring out which hotel we could stay at, and after lots of laughing, jokes and just being crazy high, we finally got a room at the metro hotel. which btw, is AWESOME for the price we pay (Y). 129 dollars for a night, so it came to about 43 dollars per person. not too shabby.
so we had to use lav’s GPS again to bring us back to the cbd. on the way back, we made one wrong turn then came into a tunnel. now, in the tunnel, there were two turns, one that said city and another that said city, king’s cross. on my recommendation (my bad!), lav turned into the king cross tunnel, and OOPS there was a tollbooth right there in the front. we were supposed to pay using some kind of e-ticket thing, but we didn’t have that, so we slowed down and almost stopped, wondering what to do. athena asked if we could turn around, and lav was like, “yeah, let’s try that.” casey turned around and went “guys, there isn’t going to be a turning around. cars are coming.” immediately, lav went EEEEEEEEEE with the funniest most scared expression ever, and we all started freaking out. but then i told lav , “look babe, at this point, there is nowhere to go but forward.” and forward we went. casey screamed “GO GO GO GO GO GOOOOO!!!!!” and lav stepped on the gas and we sped through the tollbooth, without paying ANYTHING at all. we realized later casey freaked because the metal bar could have come crashing down on us at any moment, without us knowing it, especially since we didn’t pay. i turned around, and athena had the most terrified expression on her face with her ears covered, and casey’s face was just one big :O. i would say, that moment was definitely my favourite moment of the night. in that split second, we actually became criminals. i swear there was a camera there that took our photo, but i’m praying that nothing will happen. hahahaha athena: “OMG I HOPE WE DON’T GET DEPORTED PLEEEEASE!!!!”
so we got out of the tunnel and we couldn’t figure out where we were. but thank god, there were green signs. we finally FINALLY reached our hotel, got a room, checked in and made sure lav had proper instructions to go to her friends. then, after sending her off and blessing her car, case, athena and i walked around in search of supper. we had an awesome awesome supper with good food, talking, and gossiping :)
the night turned out to be good after all the trials and tribulations :D
day 5: FINALLY home.
so we woke up, went for our 15 dollar all you can eat buffet breakfast at the hotel, checked out, left our luggage at the front counter went and did a little more shopping, then came back, got our luggage and FINALLY got to central station for our bus back. oh, and yeah, it was raining. but it’s alright.
the trip ended on a sweet note. we said goodbye, hugged, and off we went on our separate ways :)
and now, here i am, sitting down and blogging about it.
one thing i’ve learnt, is that, if you do get lost, it’s good to see the light-hearted side of things than to freak, spazz or be dramatic, because that definitely gets you nowhere. it was great being lost with casey, athena and lav because that was exactly something they did not do. we laughed and joked about (though stuff could definitely have taken a turn for the dangerous) and we made the best of the bad situation we were in. we looked at the bright side. i definitely am thankful for them, because if not, and if i were alone, i would be pissed, freaked out and panicked. but that’s what makes life interesting. the curveballs that get thrown your way.
this makes me think of something one of the characters from the olsen twins’ movie said. “it’s the curveballs that makes life interesting…sometimes, there’s a blessing waiting for you at the end of that wrong turn.” it was definitely a blessing to have those 3 girls with me by my side :) and we grew together during the trip. not physically, but definitely emotionally and mentally as well. we got to know each other better, and we bonded. as cheesy as that sounds.
and it’s weird but i’m glad that bus left us behind, because it created such sweet memories that i will forever cherish in my life. it’s a great story to tell others, and to look back on 10 years down the road. let’s just hope next time, there wouldn’t be so many wrong turns, and if there were, i can only hope the company i am in would be as amazing as the one i had.
peace. :)

”umm.. wh-where’s the hotpockets???”
